Blossom Services, Inc. provides In-Home Support to individuals living in natural homes and enrolled in the D.C. Department on Disability Services- Home and Community-based Services Waiver for Persons with Developmental Disabilities.
With In-Home Support services, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide periodic support to assist the primary caregiver and/or enable the person to live independently and participate in community activities to the fullest extent possible. A direct care staff performs a combination of hands-on care, habilitative support, and assistance with activities of daily living.
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) perform in-home support services including but not limited to:
- Commit to memory and implement all client goals and staff interventions as written in the client plans of service.
- Set behavioral limits, provide prompts as needed and provide redirection as appropriate.
- Assistance in performing personal care tasks.
- Assistance with light household tasks specific to the needs of the person.
- Assistance with homemaking tasks, such as food preparation and laundering clothes, that are specific to the needs of that person.
- Training and support on understanding and utilizing community resources.
- Training and assistance in monitoring of health, nutrition, and physical condition.
- Training and support in adapting to a community and home environment, including management of financial and personal affairs, and awareness of health and safety precautions.
- Provide transportation to community events and medical appointments.
- Know all medications and protocols.
- Complete all required training and participate in ongoing in-service training.
Additionally, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) accompany the individuals we serve on community outings. An In-Home Support Plan and Community Outings are developed based on the individual’s interests and may include community events, sporting events, museums, bowling, movies, etc.
